This year the Great Air Race (GAR) will fly from London to Australia. The route celebrates the centenary of the first flight from England to Australia in 1919. The major aeronautical event includes a flight of 18,000 MN and is focused on the most innovative and low-impact new aeronautical technologies.
Pipistrel has built exclusively for this and other races of this type, a limited edition of this low-consumption aircraft. By December 2018, 20 entries had already been made from the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, Canada and Australia.
The ‘Pipistrel Adventurer’ is basically a standard ‘SWiS Virus’ with Dynon or Garmin instruments and 185-litre long-range fuel tanks.
Here are the features and customizations of the Pipistrel Adventurer:
Garmin or Dynon or communications and autopilot
Propeller at constant speed MT
185-litre tanks – Sufficient for this event and almost twice as many as normal long-range tanks.
Beringer wheels and brakes
Long-life 8-ply tyres
Unique stickers for the event with your race number, driver’s name and team information, sponsorship stickers if necessary and your country’s flag on the queue.
The production of this type of aircraft is expected to accelerate by 10 years the development of electric and hybrid technologies for aviation.
The aircraft is available to the public at a very discounted price to encourage passionate pilots to participate.
